Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”
Read Acts 27.
As I was reading the powerful story found in Acts 27, I noticed that the apostle Paul is in a very difficult situation. Not only was his condition very disturbing - a prisoner on a ship, but he was actually on his way to Rome when a very strong storm occurred. They had to put their faith into action. Hebrews 11:6 is very clear that we can only please God through our faith. In Acts 27, Paul did just that, he remained anchored to his faith. Despite the perilous situation he was faithful, and because of that faith he had an encounter with God in the middle of the storm.
Acts 27:23-25, “Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me”
This is so powerful! In a very difficult situation, Paul put his faith in God and found protection for his present storm and for his future trial. God gave him hope! And you know what? He wants to do the same for you!
Perhaps you feel you are fasting in the middle of the storm or maybe you don’t want to do it “just because.” But if you choose to honor God despite how you feel anyway, you will have the encounter with God you are waiting for. That’s what faithfulness is...to trust in God regardless of the physical evidence. It’s not about situations or emotions; it's about faith and convictions.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for your grace and mercy to be upon my life like never before. Please strengthen my faith in a supernatural way, so that even in the storm I can find your presence and protection. Amen and Amen!
