Isaiah 55:8-9 “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.’” Read Acts 27.
During Paul’s journey to Rome, God sent him a Word through an Angel, and that Word was all Paul needed to stay focused and not fear. Paul was told there would be no loss of life, but the cargo and the ship would be destroyed. The Angel stated, “Do Not Be Afraid. You must be brought before Caesar,” and extended the covering of safety to all those who sailed with him. Take note, this life saving Word was given because Paul wanted to hear from God, so he fasted, prayed, and trusted God’s Word above all else. Paul’s unwavering faith not only saved himself, but it saved all those who were with him.
Several times throughout my life, fear attempted to creep in and erode my faith and confidence in God’s promises. Instability in relationships, finances, and employment left me questioning if God was with me. But God’s Word promises that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. He promised to never leave or forsake us. He will keep us in perfect peace whose mind stays on Him. Peace comes when we believe that God will do what He says He will and can do. This is a peace that logically makes no sense, yet Jesus came and left us peace knowing we would need it for the uncertain times to come.
God’s Word says “Our ways are not His ways,” and the same applies to our thoughts.
Have you ever faced life-altering challenges like a job loss and going without medical coverage? Financial challenges like auto repossession or school tuition denial? Broken relationships? Maybe the bad situation was made worse because of the people that you worked with or lived with at the time? Have you ever uttered the words “This is happening in the worst possible time?”. Ever just wish you could get a do-over?
As children of God, we need to remind one another of who we serve and who we belong to. Our Father loves us with an everlasting love. As we live out our days there will be circumstances/situations and challenges that we do not have clear answers or responses for. We may be in these situations due to our choices or the choices of others. Regardless of the situation, we must always remember that God’s Word is all we need. When God makes a promise, declares, or decrees a thing, nothing and nobody will ever change God’s promise for our lives.
Lord, thank you for Your Faithfulness toward me. Thank you for the loving way you restore the joy of my salvation and renew a right Spirit within me through the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, have your way in my life today. In Jesus Name, Amen
