She said to Eli, “As surely as you live, my master, I am the same woman who stood near you praying to the Lord. I prayed for this child. The Lord answered my prayer and gave him to me. Now I give him back to the Lord. He will belong to the Lord all his life.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
- 1 Samuel 1:26-28
In this verse we see that Hannah was a woman grateful for a promise kept. Our God is the ultimate promise keeper. However sometimes we get lost in the rush of life and forget that His Word does not return void. He keeps His promises, unlike the world around us. Hannah had sought for a child and prayed, knowing that God would return on her request. There have been multiple times in my life when I felt as if a promise God had made me, would never be fulfilled. But God is a promise keeper, so through faithful prayer and dedication to His Word, I was able to see those promises kept.
Question: What promise have you given up on that you feel God has forgotten?
Challenge: Through this time of fasting and journaling, record your promises as you seek Him.
Lord, help me to remember that You always keep your promises and allow me to see the promises you have for me through your eyes. Amen.
