Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
- Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)
One of the most frequently asked questions of a Christian is, “What is God's will for my life?” fasting and prayer are an opportunity designed by God to help us live in His will. On one occasion, someone asked the founder of the Methodist movement, John Wesley, how can you define Christian perfection? His answer was simple, biblical, and profound, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul, and your mind and your neighbor as yourself." Fasting and prayer brings us closer to God and as a result, changes our way of living, helping us to reflect His character omit.
Question: What can you do to get even closer to God and what can you do to show your love to the people around you?
Challenge: Throughout this time of fasting and journaling, ask yourself how disregard is your relationship with God and with your loved ones, because if one of the two is being affected, then you are moving away from the will of God.
God help me to love you more every day and to love people the way you expect so I can live a life that will not only impact me but also those around me. Amen
