“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
I have been multiple times to an “Escape Room” experience. I absolutely love the challenges. You are locked in a room. Everything you need to get out of the room is right in front of you. You have one hour to find every clue, in a certain order. What I have learned now in doing these, is that you can become so rushed, trying so hard to find the clues to get you out, that you end up looking right past the thing you are looking for. You become frustrated and agitated and most times the way out, is directly in front of you. This scripture was a promise to a nation of people. As they “sought after” God with all of their hearts, He would be found by them. How many times in our lives do we need to see God and need His presence more than ever? We try so hard to do things to find Him. We also become so focused on the scenarios around us, that our search for Him isn’t even really happening anymore.
Question: What is right in front of you, but you’ve been too caught up in the things around you, to see it?
Challenge: Through this time of fasting and praying, remove things that are distracting you and your search for Him. His promise is that His people will find Him when they search for Him with all of their hearts!
Lord, thank you for being a Father that desires to be found and do life intimately with us. Holy Spirit, I pray that you would show us the things in our lives that keep us from seeking you like this scripture speaks of. I pray that we would be a people that desire your presence in our lives over anything else. Amen
