DAY 4: Stay Connected
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” - John 15:4-5 (NIV)
God is the source of all we need – peace, provision, wholeness, grace, and love. He never runs out. However, so often we become disconnected from our Source due to life’s different seasons – good or bad. We are all guilty of trying to do things on our own, doing things in our own strength. This independence can separate us from God, our Vine. It is like a branch from and apple tree, that has fallen off, trying to grow its own apple. It is impossible for that disconnected branch to produce anything, let alone, anything good. When we disconnect from God, whether intentionally or unintentionally, we sever ourselves from the abundance that is found in Him. Prayer and fasting is our way of reconnecting with God. It is a beautiful way of coming back to our true source by spending time with Him and putting aside everything that separates us from Him.
Question: What has caused you to disconnect from God and what are you seeking in order to produce fruit again?
Challenge: Through this time of fasting and journaling, make a conscious effort to stay connected by spending time soaking in His presence, reading His word, and worshipping Him. By removing, or fasting, something, we make more space for God.
